Solar Eclipse

Today I witnessed my first solar eclipse. I never thought I will be so excited to see the Sun change its shape to become a moon for sometime. The Eclipse was not total but it was a very thrilling experience.
Around 1 PM, me and Aniket got motivated to watch solar eclipse. We decided to watch the reflection in a bucket. The attempt went futile. We could not see any reflection in the pink plastic bucket. I then got a plate from the mess and filled water over it. We could then see the reflection. The sun had already changed into a 'C' that had lost its balance and had fallen on its back. It was fun. Soon people started joining. Mess dadas were among the first to join. It felt intensely joyous to show them the eclipse. It was as if me and my buddy had invented a new apparatus. Everyone had a happy smile on the face after seeing it.
We then noticed that the plates metal surface was reflecting most of the light. So we thought it might be harmful. The mess dada then provided as with a larger vessel. It felt safer to watch the reflection in it. Soon other friends joined in. It was little difficult to find the Sun's reflection for the first time. But as soon as one managed to find the reflection he would feel like he is the smartest ass present over there and would take pride in helping others see it. Looking at all these we were feeling even more proud of it. After all we were THE SMARTEST ASSes, as we were the ones who started it. They tried getting the image in a camera but it was difficult. We kept this show on for quite sometime. Chandi da, our hall -5 canteen dada also came to see it. Mess manager was also passing by. He also saw and just like the others [U know like whom ;)] he showed it to Atul da, our cook.
We soon got a X-Ray film from somewhere. The sight of such a Sun was astounding. I kept seeing it for a long time. After nearly 2 hrs the shape of the 'C' changed into a reflected version of it. We then came back.
I have decided to celebrate the eclipse by not taking bath today. Even the mess dada's are helping the celebration by preparing SD for tonight. I pray that it tastes good and completes my celebration. I have managed to get this pic of today's eclipse from Laha.

HIV Pricks!!!

So far people have killed others by direct violence. But recently we have seen the trend towards a more dangerous Biological Warfare also abbreviated as BW.
People are becoming more sadistic these days than ever before. Lately there has been news of people getting pricked by needles in cinema theaters. These S.O.Bs hide the HIV infected needles in the public chairs and seats. They sometimes even have the tag saying "Welcome to HIV family" on it.
Those of you who are reading this blog please be careful while sitting at public places and spread this information to your friends and your loved ones. Give a thorough check of the seats before resting your arse on it. This is probably just the start of it. If people continue like this, we will soon have to be careful with what we breathe!
If any HIV patient with this kind of attitude is reading this then remember that these kinds of acts will make us look down at HIV patients. Stop making the life difficult for others and if you still don't get it right then SCREW YOURSELF...

Down the line...

I always wondered how will I be some 20 years down the line. Yesterday was the alumni meet and I took this opportunity to observe. There are some interesting points that I noted.
  • Males shed their hair: Guys who believe in bird watching should soon watch and catch a bird. Only a blessed few have proper hair till after late 30's. Most start showing baldness patterns. So hurry up.
  • Diabetes is a common disease:- If you like sweets then you should have as many as possible now. They were discussing proudly about their blood sugar level with their sidekicks. Eating a Rosogolla while having a high sugar level becomes a stunt which they where enjoying.
  • Guys never stop commenting: Two men in their 40s were discussing something very serious. One softly said to other pointing towards a good looking lady " उस टाइम की maal थी!!!" This also suggests that there are chances that a good looking girl now will be a good looking girl woman.
  • Flirting is in the blood: Boys will always be Boys... They can never change. This fact was confirmed when I was pushed to the last in the line during the tea break while two of my classmates, girls, were pushed from last to first!
  • People Grow Up: Lastly I saw a woman fighting at the registration counter. Our GS was apologizing to her but it took him a long time to pacify her. She finished the fight with a taunt. I dug in to find the reason for her disappointment. She was asked for the food coupon at the buffet and was denied food without the coupon. Her ego was hurt!!! This meant she had "GROWN UP". Grown ups get hurt easily and they forget the magic mantra of Ignore kar.

A Winter Afternoon

As it is I have taken up to sleeping a lot these days. Recently I have even discovered a very nice place to enjoy the afternoon slumber. It was a week back when after having a heavy lunch, as I always have, me and AP went to the terrace to bask in the Sun. That was one of the perfect afternoons. A heavy lunch was making me drowsy. I sat there for sometime talking to him. He had a book with him that day. He was trying to prepare for the upcoming companies. The weather was too good and it compelled me to doze off. I chose not to abstain.
I settled upon one of the several 1 feet wide ridges on the terrace to lie down. There was chillness in the air. The mild heat of the Sun was just enough to x out the chillness. It felt like I was covered with a blanket. That was one of the most relaxing feeling that I ever had. There was also this cold breeze which would pass once a while which would make me shiver. There were songs of Lagaan playing on a loudspeaker very far from the hostel. The intensity of the music was constantly changing. I believe it was because of the wind which was blowing. There was absence of the shouts of the hostelers. The sounds that I could hear that day was a treat to my ear. There was the chirping of the birds, the faint sound of the construction machines near hall-9, the doppler effect perturbed sounds of bus horns, the sound of the village children playing near the hostels and many more. In totality it was a big orchestra which I was enjoying. I laid there for nearly an hour and a half listening to all these sounds.
My body then began to ache as I was balancing on the hard surface with no space to move. I got up. My mood had become so great by then that when I got up I saw a whole new view of the campus. The Sun was setting towards my right. Towards my front there were few small houses and just beyond that there was pond. I had never before noticed the pond there. To the little left of this I could see all the previous three year hostels, Hall 9(1st) & Hall 3 (2nd and 3rd). That suddenly surrounded me with memories of my 3 and half years of college.
I remembered the first day in the hostel. I was among the first people to reach the hostel and I had found the place very big and confusing. I knew that this is not the biggest of the NITs but I was happy with the fact that it had a well defined campus as against the campus of the college where I had previously studied. I remembered the mess line which I, Arpit and Goofy would always break for the evening snax. That was the only edible part in the Hall 9 mess food. I could see the hall 3 room where I stayed in the second year with Laha and Neel. I remembered the smile on Naadu's face when I first met him. He made me feel that there was something wrong with me. It was only later I realized that his face has that permanent smile. One more thing that I remembered very vividly was the rainy day when our whole wing was cursing Pullu when he was going for the class. But he didn't even bother to turn back or stop. GRrrrrrrrrr..... Pullu!!! We had to attend the class on that day. Other things which I remembered were Neels non stop shaking leg which I used to call as a free source of energy, subhro's bhaang incidence, I remembered something also about Laha but I can't write it here :P and I could see myself on the terrace of both hostels with a cell phone.
Apart from these I saw Hall 4 where I remembered my robotics night outs with Shivek and exam time combined study with Shubro. Turing to a little more left I could see the mobile tower near the library and then Hall 1. Those being exactly opposite to the setting Sun. I could also barely see Hall 2. Most of its view was blocked by a tree. And then was the Techno.
That afternoon was truly an awe-inspiring perfect noon. Everything about it was perfect. So I am attempting to capture that day in this blog. It is impossible to cover every detail of that afternoon.
It is has got very late now. I did not realize the time passing. Suddenly I am feeling very sleepy after looking at the time. Going to sleep now...

1024 to 512

About a month back I had a deal with Abhishek. Pankaj had bought a 512 MB RAM for his computer a year back. But luckily for us the RAM was incompatible with his computer. Sorry for being so mean :Pankaj!!! Pankaj benevolently offered us to use the RAM. We two lazy bums, me being more lazy than Abhishek did not get the RAM for many days from him. We found it too difficult to walk to his room and get the RAM.
Finally Abhishek fetched it from his room. I think this was before the last exam of the semester in the month of November. He tried it in his computer. His computer is one antique piece. That computer only functions when the CPU is kept flat on the table. This is not the only problem with the computer. There are more like if the motherboard is ever touched then it starts complaining by making weird sounds. The CPU then refuses to boot. The whole thing looks as if the computer is cursing Abhishek. This makes Abhishek a little worried and angry. He then starts working on the CPU as if trying to pacify his girl friend. Poor Abhishek I pity him!!! lolz... Today he had another problem with his SMPS also. The only good thing about his computer is that he has got 1GB ram which is 512MB more than mine which he keeps bragging about to me. Abhishek if you are reading this then take my advice and sell your computer. You may even give me your RAM :)
So much for now about his computer let me carry on with the deal. It did not initially work with his computer but after several tries his computer accepted the extra memory. I later tried in mine and it worked. Abhishek being such a nice friend of mine allowed me to keep the RAM. He had an agreement that I will be allowed to keep it till the time I get a job.
My computer turned from a Maruthi 800 into a Ferrari with that RAM. It became super fast. It booted up in seconds. I could use themes for my operating system. I no longer had to use the windows classic theme. I know it is embarrassing to use that one. DC became fun too.
Today I had to give the 512 MB RAM back to him. I am experiencing time dilation. It feels like ages before the computer boots up. I am back to my windows classic look :( I miss the 512MB. This blog is dedicated to that 512MB which stayed with me for a month. I miss you...

Magical Charging of Nokia

This is a trick that I recently came across. This trick miraculously seems to charge the Nokia batteries to its full power with just a piece of paper!!! I had spent the entire yesterday evening trying to figure out how it works but ended up making only little success. Let me first write about how to perform the trick.
Firstly take the battery off the mobile. Check if the battery has 3 terminals in it. All BL-5C series have it. I don't know if this trick works with the other kinds of batteries or not. I tested it in my Nokia 1100. Next cover only the center terminal with a piece of paper. Now put the battery back on without removing the paper. Switch on the mobile and Voila!!! It shows full charge. Now the paper can be removed and the cellphone will still SHOW* full charge. To get it back to normal just switch off and switch on without the paper.
Now let me try to answer the HOW part of it. After much searching I got the Nokia service manuals. By examining it I found out that the center terminal is called the BSI (Battery status indicator). As everyone would have guessed by now it tells the status of the battery charge. By insulating the terminal with a paper we are somehow fooling the cellphone. I have not been able to find out how exactly it is able to fool it. I still can not explain how even after the paper is removed it shows full charge. I think this can be answered only if we get the software which runs in the mobile. If some one gets the reason please post it here.

Note: *This trick does not really charge the mobile. The battery will run out normally and the mobile will get switched off without any warning...

Kayaking

Internet is a really interesting thing. It can lead you to anywhere! I was reading through the news paper in the morning when I read about a mishap. It happened to some picnickers who had overloaded a boat. This is always a common practice in the cars or scooters of India but people take it too far when they try doing it in a boat too. A boat capable of carrying 19 capsized while carrying 27 people in it!!! I started of with a search for whirlpool which was the cause of the accident and ended up searching videos for kayaking.
Kayaking must really be serene experience. It must be so calming to kayak in a river or sea on a Sunday afternoon alongside with a friend. Away from all worries and seeing the sun set in the sea must be the most peaceful thing I can imagine. I would like to have that experience at least once in my lifetime. Right now I am watching videos on youtube of expertvillage. Though watching these tutorials is far from doing the real thing I am still enjoying and having the thrills as I imagine myself doing it.
I wish someday soon I would be blogging about my Kayaking experience too. For now let me continue with my tutorials....

Rapes in India

India currently ranks 3rd worldwide in the number of rape cases. That is when talking about the number of REPORTED Cases. The actual number of cases being 200% more. And the sorry thing is that we have done really great at this. India has held on to this position as far as I can search. Let me try to answer the reason for this disgraceful record.
First of all the simple definition of rape as given by the dictionary : "the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse" is not sufficient for our court. Most of the cases do not get a hearing in the court in the life time. Of the cases that get attended to also get decided in favor of the accused. Reason being that the court require more evidence than that can ever be produced. The evidence demanded are injury marks on the body of the victim OR marks on the body of the attacker. Most of the time the last two sentences are also joined by AND instead of OR. Ridiculous isn't it? With rules like this how can we ever stop rapes. Getting away with rape cases is a mere cakewalk. There are other instances where the cases are put away b'cos the girl is from a dalit cast and the guy is from an upper cast. And an upper cast will not touch a dalit!!! What shit is that??? With the court itself aiding casteism how can we expect the differences in the country to die away.
Even of the cases where the offender is punished the punishment is only a mere imprisonment of 1-10 years. Most of the time people make it out of the prison within 4 years and little fine. This is how our legislature is encouraging rapes in India.
I hope it is clear by now why India is so high in crime. India needs to make stricter rules.
It has been found that 67% of the rapes in India are by uneducated people. So literacy seems to be way out of this black mark. I hope India soon understands the acuteness of the situation and behaves itself.

Cold and Hair

I did not understand the gravity of the relation between Cold and Hair till I depilated my head. This is in the middle of the winter that I decided to go bald. Not for any religious reasons but only for the sake of pure 100% fun and experimentation. It was always my fantasy to do it which I could not do earlier partly because of lack of proper time and partly because of lack of audacity to change my looks. For those of you who want to know how it feels like to be bald in the winter read on...
God has given hair so as to protect excessive heat and cold. If you cut it in the winter and expect it to be comfortable then you are probably a moron. It feels very^10 cold. For sometime it might also feel like the barber has installed a mini Hitachi Ac for just Rs. 15 over the head but later it becomes acclimated. All that acclimatisation will turn out to be useless at night though. Exactly speaking the cold that the head feels without the hair is like the cold that most people feel in the nose on a cold day riding on a bike very fast.
Luckily the intelligent biped have invented the warm woolen cap (Topa in hindi) which becomes indispensable. This acts both as a protection against cold and also helps to conceal the stupidity after the realization of idiocy of cutting the hair.
The B-side of short hair is that going out is excessively quick with no need to worry about the hair. It also feels good to rub hand over the head. The velvet feel is truly awesome. Any boring day can be converted to an interesting one by taking a walk outside without the cap. Somebody is sure to comment and then u can strike a long conversation with the person ;). And lastly but most importantly what can be more engaging than seeing the pattern in which one is loosing hair.

Intuitions of a **Wise man** :P

  1. I have searched for words, I have searched for quotes... But I still don't know how to tell you what you know I want to tell you...
  2. The quickest way to success (highest potential) like in an electrical circuit is to take the highest resistance path...

A breif recap 2

Let me put in some of the less important things that happened to me last year in this... These are the less boring parts unlike the prior post (missing in this blog!!!).
I think the journey back to the college which was related in the last post needs expansion. It was one of a kind journey that I ever had. Firstly I had to reach college as our placement season was starting and one of the core companies for electronics (Tejas) was supposed to come soon. So I could not afford bunking it. Me and another friend of mine who was supposed to go to Patna had reservations in the same train. We reached the railway station and saw that the train is delayed by 6 hours due to landslide. This was just the beginning of the fun. We took the 1 hr journey back home again. I got a gut feeling that the train is going to get canceled and it did get canceled. I was happy that I will be going to stay at home for another week but then was feeling restless within as I wanted to attend the interview. My friend had no hurry so he booked the next week train.
The next day was just as exciting. I got up and then told parents that I will take unreserved trains and somehow make it to the college. My dad offered his company. I did not want him to come as the journey would be difficult. I went to check the trains at my friends place and when I came back a surprise awaited me. My dad came up with the idea of sending me by flight till Mumbai. Everybody at home was very much excited as no one had flown before. I booked a ticket to Calcutta from Mumbai by train.
I went to the airport first time in my life and then I was a little nervous. The air hostess were good. Specially the Kingfisher ones :) I was traveling in Indigo. They had the worst of the air hostess or may be "The grass on the other side of the fence is always greener". I got into the plane after an hour of wait in the airport. The flight took off. There was initial acceleration which was fun. It was pulling me back to my seat and in some time we where above the clouds. Even the rain bearing clouds look white from top and the sun shines like summer above the clouds.
I reached Mumbai in less than an hour. I then went to the railway station. I had to wait there for 10 hours till the next day morning 6. I went for a movie and when I came back at 12 I discovered that the train in which I was supposed to travel also got canceled. This was the ultimate test of my patience. I luckily got reservation in another train which started at 4 in d evening. This meant 10 hours of more waiting.
In the morning I decided to take a walk around the place. I made friends with a travel agent who was a divorcee and had been treated in the mental asylum for 3 years. After an hour chat with him I walked till the Gateway of India. I also saw the Nariman Point and Trident hotel which gained popularity after the terrorist attack.
Then I finally made it to my college with a travel time of 52 hrs which otherwise would take 38-40 hrs only to discover that the company that I came running all the way is not coming!!!
Among the other things that happened last year was: a spoilt mp4 player (july) , 9 pointer, Drdo interview whose results are still awaited, a job in Idea cellular and lastly I shaved my head (all of that in Dec)

The Opener...

So here I am again with my first post of my 3rd blog... The previous two attempts to blog had failed. The first one contained just one blog and the next one was a tremendous improvement. It had 5!!! This year I have again resolved to blog.
Yeah I know I am a sincere follower of "TRY AND TRY TILL YOU SUCCEED AT LAST". I am keeping this block private for the nonce. I will make this public if I keep posting regularly. I will try to post all my thoughts in this blog without any filter. This is another reason for keeping it private. Some things are better of as secrets...

Preface

I had started writing a blog and I kept that private. I had planned that I will make that publicly open if I blog consistently. Now I think is the right time to make my blog public but I feel that I should keep that blog only for me. So I have created this blog which I am sharing with people. I have planned to import the blogs that I want to share into this blog. I hope you enjoy reading the blogs...
I am predating this post so as to avoid confusions for a new follower.
